Project Controls Director – Main Contractor

The Project Controls Director will lead the full spectrum of project controls across a portfolio of major construction projects in Jeddah. This role is responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving best‑in‑class standards for planning and scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, and detailed project reporting. The successful candidate will ensure that all project performance data is accurate, timely, and actionable—supporting informed decision‑making at executive level and enabling safe, efficient, and commercially successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all project controls functions across planning, scheduling, cost management, risk, change, and reporting for major construction programmes.
  • Develop and maintain fully integrated project schedules, including baselines, critical path analysis, progress measurement, and scenario modelling.
  • Oversee comprehensive cost control systems covering budgets, forecasts, commitments, cash flow, earned value analysis, and financial performance tracking.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and highly detailed project reports and executive dashboards, ensuring meaningful insights on schedule, cost, risks, procurement, and KPIs.
  • Drive effective change management processes, ensuring variations, scope adjustments, and impacts are captured, analysed, and communicated.
  • Lead project risk management activities, including identification, quantification, mitigation planning, and ongoing risk exposure reporting.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, construction teams, JV partners, and subcontractors to ensure aligned, accurate project controls data.
  • Build, mentor, and oversee a high‑performing team of planners, cost controllers, and reporting analysts, ensuring consistent adherence to best‑practice project controls standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of project controls experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role for major international contractors.
  • Must have experience producing highly detailed monthly project reports as well as presentations.
  • Proven track record on large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects (e.g., high‑rise, mixed‑use, aviation, industrial, or mega‑projects).
  • Advanced proficiency in planning and cost tools (Primavera P6, cost management systems, BI reporting platforms).
  • Strong understanding of EPC contracting models, claims, variations, and project governance.
  • Exceptional analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in the Middle East is highly advantageous.
