Senior Architect – Syrian Nationals

Our client, a leading Gulf master developer, is building its team in Damascus to deliver a landmark large-scale mixed-use community. The Senior Architect will lead and coordinate architectural design across residential, mixed-use and master-planned projects, from concept through construction documentation, managing consultants and keeping design on brief, budget and programme. This is a fully on-site role based in Damascus. We are particularly keen to hear from Syrian professionals working abroad who are looking to return home and contribute to the country's reconstruction. Fluent Arabic and English are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design across residential, mixed-use and master-planned developments
  • Review concept, schematic and detailed designs and construction documentation
  • Coordinate structural, MEP, landscape, infrastructure and interior design consultants
  • Ensure deliverables meet the brief, quality standards, technical requirements and budget
  • Review drawings, specifications, materials and submissions for compliance and buildability
  • Track consultant deliverables and design milestones
  • Identify design risks and conflicts and propose practical solutions
  • Work with project management, consultants and contractors to resolve design issues
  • Support value engineering without compromising design quality
  • Conduct design reviews and site inspections
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations and authority requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture from a recognised university
  • 8–12 years’ relevant experience in real estate development, design consultancy or large-scale construction
  • Proven experience on residential, mixed-use, hospitality or master-planned developments
  • Strong design coordination, consultant management and technical design review experience
  • GCC or international project experience preferred
  • Fluent Arabic and English (spoken and written) – essential
  • Syrian professionals looking to return to Syria strongly preferred
  • Willing to be based full-time in Damascus
