Main Construction to Begin in 2026

Expo 2030 Riyadh Company plans to start building the event’s key structures in Q3 2026. Work on participating countries’ pavilions will also begin around mid‑2026. These updates come as project leaders outline a faster pace of contract awards for major engineering and infrastructure packages.

Site Preparation Progresses

So far, crews have levelled more than 1.5 million sqm, which accounts for 25% of the entire Expo site. Four national companies have secured contracts for early site preparation and infrastructure work. In November 2025, Saudi Real Estate Co. (Al Akaria) confirmed that its subsidiary, Binyah, signed a framework agreement with Expo 2030 Riyadh Company to carry out early works on the project.

Major Consultants Already Appointed

The Expo organisation continues to assemble a global delivery team.

  • In July 2025, Bechtel was appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC).
  • In December 2025, Buro Happold was named the lead design consultant for the detailed master plan, public realm, infrastructure, utilities and overall legacy planning

A Global Event on a Massive Scale

Expo 2030 Riyadh will take place from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031. The event will host 197 nations, 29 organisations, and is projected to draw more than 40 million visits across its five themed districts. This scale positions the Expo as one of the largest global gatherings of the decade.
